Every WhatsApp conversation in Chatmo flows through a connected device β a WhatsApp instance linked to a phone number that your team uses to send and receive messages. The Device Management page is your control center for keeping those connections healthy and organized.

Understanding the Device List
When you open the WA Devices section from the sidebar, you'll see a list of all WhatsApp devices associated with your organization. Each entry in the list shows the following details at a glance:
- Avatar β The WhatsApp profile photo associated with the device
- Device Name β The name you assigned when registering the device
- Phone Number β The connected WhatsApp number
- Status Badge β Current connection indicator (see section below)
- Device Type β The type of device being used (Android, iPhone, Web, or Desktop)
- Last Activity β Timestamp of the most recent message processed
- Messages Today β Number of messages processed today
- Actions Menu β Quick options for managing the device
If your business operates multiple WhatsApp numbers β say, one for sales and another for support β they'll all appear here. This makes it straightforward to monitor everything from a single view rather than jumping between different WhatsApp sessions.
Device Status Indicators
Each device displays a status badge that tells you its current connection state. Here's what each status means:
| Status | Color | Icon | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Connected | Green (bg-green-50) | Wifi | The device is online and actively processing messages. Everything is working as expected. |
| Disconnected | Gray (bg-gray-50) | WifiOff | The connection has been lost or the device is logged out. Messages cannot be sent or received until the device is reconnected. |
| Connecting | Amber (bg-amber-50) | RefreshCw (spinning) | The device is in the process of connecting or waiting for verification to complete. |
| Error | Red (bg-red-50) | XCircle | Something went wrong with the device. Investigation and likely a manual reconnect are needed. |
Make it a habit to check your device statuses at the start of each workday. A disconnected device means missed customer messages β and you might not realize it until a customer complains. Also pay attention to devices showing Error status, as they require immediate attention.
Device Statistics
Beyond simple status indicators, each device provides usage statistics that help you understand its workload and performance. These metrics typically include:
- Messages Today β Number of messages processed by the device today.
- Last Activity β The timestamp of the most recent message sent or received.
- Uptime β How long the device has maintained a continuous connection without interruption.
- Device Type β Information on whether the device runs on Android, iPhone, Web, or Desktop.
These numbers are particularly useful when you're running multiple devices. If one device is handling significantly more traffic than the others, you might want to redistribute your channel assignments or consider adding another number to balance the load.
Managing Multiple Devices
As your business grows, you'll likely need more than one WhatsApp number. Here are some practical ways teams organize their devices:
- By department β One device for customer support, another for sales inquiries, and a third for order updates.
- By region or language β Separate numbers for different geographic markets or language preferences.
- By brand β If you operate multiple brands under one organization, each brand can have its own WhatsApp number.
Having clear naming conventions for your devices saves time down the road. Instead of "Device 1" and "Device 2," names like "Support - US" or "Sales - Indonesia" make it immediately obvious which device handles what.
The number of devices you can connect depends on your Chatmo subscription plan. Check your plan details under Settings to see your current device limit.
Understanding Device Health
A device that's technically connected but experiencing issues can be just as problematic as one that's fully disconnected. Keep an eye on these health signals:
- Frequent disconnections β If a device drops its connection multiple times a day, the underlying phone may have battery or network issues.
- Message delivery delays β Slow message processing can indicate network congestion or problems on WhatsApp's side.
- QR code expiration β If a device keeps requiring re-authentication, there may be a conflict with another WhatsApp session on the same number.
When you notice any of these patterns, head to the Monitor & Reconnect page for detailed troubleshooting steps.
Quick Actions
From the device list, you can perform several actions through the actions menu on each device:
- Monitor β Open the monitoring page to view detailed statistics and device information.
- Send Test Message β Send a test message to verify the device is functioning properly.
- Reconnect β Initiate a reconnection if the device has dropped offline.
- Disconnect β Disconnect the device without removing it.
- Edit β Update the device name or configuration settings.
- Delete β Disconnect and permanently remove a device from your organization.
Removing a device is irreversible. All active conversations assigned to that device will need to be reassigned to another device. Make sure you have a replacement device connected before removing one that's in active use.
