The Ecommerce & Order tool transforms your AI Agent into a full-service sales assistant. When enabled, your agent can display products, calculate shipping costs, process payments, and manage orders β all within a single chat conversation. Customers never leave the chat window to complete a purchase.
This is the most comprehensive tool available in Chatmo. It connects your product catalog, shipping providers, and payment gateway into one seamless conversational commerce flow.

When to Use This Tool
Enable the Ecommerce & Order tool when you want your AI Agent to:
- Let customers browse and search your product catalog directly in chat
- Automatically calculate shipping costs based on the customer's location
- Generate payment links (via Xendit) or provide manual bank transfer details
- Create and track orders without human intervention
- Handle the complete purchase flow from product inquiry to order confirmation
If you only need shipping cost checks without the full ecommerce workflow, consider using the standalone Check Ongkir tool instead.
Prerequisites
Before enabling this tool, make sure the following are set up:
- At least one product in your product catalog. Go to E-Commerce > Products to add products with names, descriptions, prices, images, and stock quantities.
- At least one shop address configured as your shipping origin. Go to E-Commerce > Shop Addresses to add your warehouse or store address.
- A payment method β either a connected Xendit account for automatic payments or a manual bank account for bank transfers. Go to E-Commerce > Payment to configure this.
If any of these prerequisites are missing, the tool will show validation errors and you will not be able to save the configuration. Set up your products, addresses, and payment methods in the E-Commerce section first.
Enabling the Tool
- Navigate to AI Agent from the sidebar menu.

-
Select the agent you want to configure, or create a new one.
-
On the agent setup page, click the Tools & Integrations tab in the left sidebar.

-
Find E-commerce & Order in the tools list and click on it to open the configuration page.
-
The tool configuration page opens with the chat simulation widget visible on the right side (desktop). Configure each section as described below.
Configuration
The Ecommerce & Order tool configuration is divided into several sections: Shipping Configuration, Product Catalog, Payment Methods, and AI Prompts.
Shipping Configuration
The shipping section controls how your agent handles delivery logistics. You can enable or disable shipping entirely using the Require Shipping toggle.

Require Shipping Toggle
When shipping is enabled (default), the agent will ask for the customer's shipping address and calculate delivery costs before creating an order. When disabled, the agent skips shipping and only processes the product and payment β useful for digital products or in-store pickup.
Shop Address (Shipping From)
Select the origin address that will be used to calculate shipping costs. This dropdown pulls from your saved shop addresses in E-Commerce > Shop Addresses.

To select a shop address:
- Click the search field under Shop Address (Shipping From).
- Browse or search through your saved addresses.
- Click an address to select it. A map preview and address details will appear below.
- If you need to add a new address, click the Manage Addresses link to go to the E-Commerce addresses page.
The selected shop address determines the shipping origin for all cost calculations. If you ship from multiple locations, select the primary one here. You can manage all your addresses from the E-Commerce > Shop Addresses page.
Available Couriers
Select which shipping couriers to offer your customers. The following couriers are supported:
| Courier | Code |
|---|---|
| JNE | jne |
| TIKI | tiki |
| POS Indonesia | pos |
| J&T Express | jnt |
| SiCepat | sicepat |
| AnterAja | anteraja |
| Ninja Express | ninja |
| Lion Parcel | lion |
| Wahana | wahana |
| SAP Express | sap |
| ID Express | ide |

Check or uncheck each courier to control which options appear when the agent calculates shipping for a customer. By default, JNE, J&T Express, and SiCepat are selected.
Start with 2-3 popular couriers rather than enabling all of them. Too many options can overwhelm customers during the checkout conversation. You can always add more later.
Product Catalog
The Product Catalog section lets you select which products from your E-Commerce catalog this AI Agent can access and sell. The agent will be able to help customers browse, check availability, and place orders for selected products.

To configure the product catalog:
- The section displays all active products from your E-Commerce > Products page.
- Use the search bar to find specific products by name.
- Check the box next to each product you want the agent to sell.
- A maximum of 5 products can be enabled per agent. If you need to change the selection, deselect a product first.
- Click Save Products to sync the selection with the agent.
The product count badge shows how many products are currently enabled. To add new products or edit existing ones, click the Manage Products link.
Product changes (price updates, stock changes, new images) made in the E-Commerce section are reflected automatically. You do not need to reconfigure the tool after editing product details β only the product selection needs manual management here.
Payment Methods
The payment section determines how your agent processes transactions. Two options are available: Automatic (Xendit) and Manual Transfer.

Automatic Payment (Xendit)
When set to Automatic (Xendit), the agent generates payment links through the Xendit payment gateway. Customers receive a link with multiple payment channel options and can pay directly β no manual verification needed.

Requirements for Xendit:
- Your Xendit account must have ACTIVE status
- KYC verification must be PASSED
If you have not connected a Xendit account yet, go to E-Commerce > Payment > Automatic and click Connect Xendit Account. The setup process requires:
- Enter your email address and business name.
- Verify your email with a 6-digit OTP code.
- Complete the KYC verification process via the invitation email from Xendit (takes 1-3 business days).
Available Xendit Payment Channels:
Once Xendit is active, select which payment channels to enable:
| Category | Channels |
|---|---|
| Virtual Account | BCA, BNI, BRI, Mandiri, Permata, BSI, BJB, Sahabat Sampoerna |
| E-Wallets | OVO, DANA, ShopeePay, LinkAja, AstraPay, Jenius Pay |
| Retail Outlets | Alfamart, Indomaret |
| QR Code | QRIS |
Check or uncheck individual channels, or use the category-level toggle to select/deselect all channels in a category. At least one payment channel must be selected.
Manual Payment (Bank Transfer)
When set to Manual Transfer, the agent provides your bank account details to the customer and instructs them to transfer the payment manually. You will need to verify the payment yourself.

To configure manual payment:
- Select Manual Transfer as the payment method.
- Choose a bank account from the dropdown. This list pulls from your saved payment methods in E-Commerce > Payment > Manual.
- If no bank accounts are available, click Manage Payment Methods to add one first.
The selected bank account details (bank name, account number, account holder name) will be shown to customers when they place an order.
AI Prompts
The AI Prompts section lets you customize when and how the agent uses the Ecommerce & Order tool during conversations.

The Activation Prompt field accepts free-form instructions that tell the AI:
- When to activate the ecommerce workflow (trigger words and context)
- How to present product information
- How to guide customers through the checkout process
- How to format order confirmations
Write clear, specific instructions. For example: "When a customer asks about products, shows interest in buying, or asks about prices, activate the ecommerce tool. Present products with their name, price, and a brief description. Guide the customer through selecting a product, providing their shipping address, and completing payment."
Be specific in your prompts. Good prompts include trigger words, context conditions, and clear instructions for the AI to follow. Test different prompt variations using the chat simulation to find what works best for your business.
Saving the Configuration
After configuring all sections, click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the form. If there are validation errors (such as a missing shop address or no payment method selected), the error message will appear next to the save button, and saving will be blocked until the issue is resolved.
How It Works in Practice
Here is a typical conversation flow when a customer interacts with an agent that has the Ecommerce & Order tool enabled:
- Customer asks about products β "What products do you have?" or "I'm looking for [product name]."
- Agent displays product catalog β The agent shows available products with names, prices, images, and stock status.
- Customer selects a product β "I want to buy the [product name]."
- Agent asks for shipping details β If shipping is enabled, the agent asks for the customer's delivery address.
- Agent calculates shipping β Using the selected couriers, the agent presents shipping options with costs and estimated delivery times.
- Customer confirms the order β After selecting a shipping option, the customer confirms.
- Agent processes payment β Depending on the payment method:
- Xendit: A payment link is generated and sent to the customer.
- Manual: The agent provides bank account details and transfer instructions.
- Order is created β The order appears in your E-Commerce > Orders page for tracking and management.
Testing the Integration
After saving your configuration, test the complete ecommerce flow using the chat simulation widget.
- On the tool configuration page, the chat simulation widget is visible on the right side (desktop).
- Enable Debug mode by toggling the Debug switch to On in the simulation widget.

-
Send test messages that simulate a customer purchase flow:
- "What products do you sell?"
- "I want to buy [product name]"
- "Ship it to [a test address]"
- "I'll take the JNE Regular option"
- "Please proceed with the order"
-
With Debug mode on, observe:
- Whether the ecommerce tool is being called at the right moments
- The parameters sent to the tool (product ID, address, courier)
- The response data (shipping costs, payment details)
- Whether the order is created successfully
-
Check the E-Commerce > Orders page to verify that the test order appears.
For a comprehensive testing guide, see Testing Your AI Agent.
Test orders created during simulation are real orders in your system. You may want to cancel or delete them after testing to keep your order records clean.
Troubleshooting
"Shop Address is required when shipping is enabled"
This means no origin address is selected. Either select a shop address from the dropdown or disable the Require Shipping toggle if shipping is not needed.
"Please select a bank account for manual payment"
When using Manual Transfer as the payment method, you must select a bank account. Go to E-Commerce > Payment > Manual to add a bank account, then return to the tool configuration and select it.
"Please select at least one Xendit payment method"
When using Automatic (Xendit) payment, at least one payment channel (Virtual Account, E-Wallet, Retail Outlet, or QRIS) must be checked.
Xendit is not available as a payment option
This happens when your Xendit account is not connected, not yet active, or KYC verification has not passed. Go to E-Commerce > Payment > Automatic to check your Xendit account status and complete any pending setup steps.
Products are not showing up in the catalog
Make sure your products in E-Commerce > Products are set to Active. Only active products appear in the tool configuration product list.
The agent is not triggering the ecommerce workflow
Check your Activation Prompt in the AI Prompts section. The prompt should clearly define when the agent should activate the tool. Also verify that the tool is properly saved and enabled.
