The Check Ongkir tool gives your AI Agent the ability to calculate shipping costs on the spot during conversations. When a customer asks "How much to ship to Surabaya?" or "What are the delivery options to Bandung?", the agent retrieves live rates from Indonesian couriers and presents the options immediately β no need to redirect the customer to a separate shipping calculator.
This tool is ideal for businesses that receive frequent shipping cost inquiries but do not need the full ecommerce order flow. If you want end-to-end order processing (product catalog, checkout, payment), use the Ecommerce & Order tool instead.

Enabling the Tool
- Navigate to AI Agent from the sidebar menu.

-
Select the agent you want to configure.
-
Click the Tools & Integrations tab in the left sidebar.

-
Find Check Ongkir in the tools list and click on it.
-
The tool configuration page opens. Configure each section as described below, then click Save Changes.
Configuration
The Check Ongkir form has three main sections: API Configuration, Shipping Settings (origin location, default weight, and couriers), and AI Prompts.
API Configuration
Choose which shipping API provider to use for rate calculations.

| Provider | Description | API Key Required |
|---|---|---|
| Default ChatMo | Built-in shipping API. Recommended for most users. | No |
| RajaOngkir | Popular Indonesian shipping cost API. | Yes |
| Biteship | Multi-carrier shipping platform with advanced features. | Yes |
Default ChatMo is pre-configured and requires no additional setup β shipping rate lookups work immediately. If you have an existing account with RajaOngkir or Biteship and prefer to use it, select the provider and enter your API key.
When using the Default ChatMo provider, no API key is needed. This is the recommended option unless you have specific requirements for RajaOngkir or Biteship features.
If you select RajaOngkir or Biteship, an API Key field appears. Enter your key from the respective provider. The configuration will not save if the API key field is left empty when a third-party provider is selected.
Shipping Settings
Default Origin Location
Set the default origin (sender) location for shipping cost calculations. This is the city or area where your packages ship from.

To set the origin:
- Type a city name or area in the Default Origin Location search field (e.g., "Jakarta Selatan", "Bandung", "Surabaya").
- Select the correct location from the dropdown suggestions.
- The map updates to show the selected location with a pin marker.
- You can also click directly on the map to set the origin, or use the location button to use your current GPS location.
The origin location determines the "ship from" point for all rate calculations. If you have multiple warehouses, enter the primary one here.
Default Weight
Enter the default package weight in grams. This value is used when the customer does not specify a weight. The default is 1000 grams (1 kg). The minimum accepted value is 100 grams.
Supported Couriers
Select which couriers to include when checking shipping rates. The following Indonesian couriers are available:
| Courier | Code |
|---|---|
| JNE | jne |
| TIKI | tiki |
| POS Indonesia | pos |
| J&T Express | jnt |
| SiCepat | sicepat |
| AnterAja | anteraja |
| Ninja Express | ninja |
| Lion Parcel | lion |
| Wahana | wahana |
| SAP Express | sap |
| ID Express | ide |

Check or uncheck each courier to control which ones are included in rate lookups. At least one courier must be selected. By default, JNE, J&T Express, and SiCepat are enabled.
Some couriers may not be available with certain API providers. For example, RajaOngkir does not support AnterAja. If you switch providers and a previously selected courier becomes unavailable, it will be automatically excluded from results.
AI Prompts
The Activation Prompt tells the AI when and how to use the Check Ongkir tool.

Write clear instructions that specify:
- Trigger phrases (e.g., "shipping cost", "ongkir", "delivery fee", "how much to ship")
- How to ask for missing information (destination city, package weight)
- How to format the shipping rate results
Example prompt: "When a customer asks about shipping costs, delivery fees, or ongkir, use this tool to check the rates. Ask for the destination city if not provided. Present the results as a list showing the courier name, service type, cost, and estimated delivery time."
How It Works
Here is a typical conversation flow when a customer asks about shipping costs:
Customer: "How much does it cost to ship to Surabaya?"
Agent: Calls Check Ongkir tool with origin from config, destination: Surabaya, weight: 1000g
Agent: "Here are the shipping options to Surabaya:
- JNE REG: Rp 18,000 (2-3 days)
- J&T Express: Rp 16,000 (2-3 days)
- SiCepat Regular: Rp 15,500 (2-3 days)
Would you like to know about express shipping options as well?"
The agent automatically uses the configured origin location and default weight, and only queries the couriers you have enabled.
Testing the Integration
After saving your configuration, test the shipping cost lookup using the chat simulation widget.
-
On the tool configuration page, locate the chat simulation widget on the right side (desktop).
-
Enable Debug mode by toggling the Debug switch to On.

-
Send a test message asking about shipping costs:
- "Berapa ongkir ke Bandung?"
- "How much to ship to Yogyakarta?"
- "Cek ongkir ke Makassar 2 kg"
-
With Debug mode on, check:
- The tool is being called when expected
- The correct origin, destination, and weight parameters are sent
- The courier rates are returned successfully
- The agent formats the results clearly
-
Test edge cases:
- Ask about a destination without specifying weight (should use default weight)
- Ask about an obscure or misspelled city name
- Ask about shipping without mentioning a destination (the agent should ask for it)

Troubleshooting
"API Key is required for [provider name]"
This error appears when you select RajaOngkir or Biteship but leave the API key empty. Enter a valid API key from your provider account, or switch to the Default ChatMo provider.
"Please select at least one courier"
At least one courier must be selected in the Supported Couriers section. Check the box next to at least one courier.
Shipping rates return empty or show errors
- Verify that the origin location is set correctly and resolves to a valid Indonesian city.
- Check that the selected couriers are supported by your chosen API provider.
- If using a third-party API, verify that your API key is valid and has not expired.
- Ensure the destination city name provided in the conversation is recognizable.
The agent does not trigger shipping cost checks
Review the Activation Prompt to make sure it includes relevant trigger words. Also confirm that the tool configuration is saved and the tool is enabled in the agent's Tools & Integrations list.
Rates are different from what I see on the courier's website
Shipping rates from the API may differ slightly from courier websites due to caching, API update intervals, or weight rounding. The API provides the most accurate programmatic rates available at the time of the request.
